We chose Tamworth pigs for our farm because they are a rare, traditional breed that is perfectly suited to our commitment to high animal welfare and outdoor systems to restore natural processes. Known as the "Forest Pig" due to their history in the ancient woodlands of Britain, their striking ginger coats and long snouts make them visually distinct. Their hardiness and active nature allow them to thrive outdoors year-round, making them exceptional partners for conservation grazing and woodland management. Their natural foraging and rootling help clear scrub and aerate the soil creating space for diverse plant and insect life to emerge.
We currently have 3 Tamworth pigs. Our two girls, Carrot and Miss Piggy, are sisters. Our boar, Jasper, is extremely friendly and loves to have a good tummy rub! Our pigs are rootling in the fields during the winter and we let them roam in our woods in the summer. They especially love acorns and apples!
